As you all know our education system here in the United States is far from perfect. In fact it is damn near broken. Things have gotten way out of control over the last twenty years or so. Between unruly class behavior and burnt out hippie parents who don’t dicsipline their kids, it is just impossible for any education system to work in our schools. The problem is at home. Folks just don’t stay on top of their kids like they used to. Everyone want to be their kids “best friend” instead of being a good and tough parent. It takes balls to be tough on your kids when you need to be but if you love them you will do what it takes to make sure they don’t go down the wrong path.
However, Anjali Datta is suffering from another fault of our school system. This girl, Anjali Datta has the highest ever grade point average in her school and finished all of her credits in just 3 years time. Yet she is being denied the valedictorian award because she finished a year early. Anjali Datta out is not being given the valedictorian because the rules state that the valedictorian goes to the person with the highest grade point average over four years of school. I think in the case of Anjali Datta this rule need some fresh interpretation. It was not meant to keep people like Anjali Datta from receiving the valedictorian. Actually the rules stated are too wordy for their own good. People try to sound fancy and extra professional by over wording documents and things like that. In this case another burnt out baby boomer who runs the school can’t seem to embrace common sense and give Anjali Datta the valedictorian.
